Mozilla, the American company known for its focus on privacy, has announced a significant update to its renowned browser, Firefox. Starting from version 118, Firefox will include an offline translation service for web pages.

The key feature of this service is that it performs translations locally on the user’s computer, without the need for an internet connection. This approach ensures data privacy as no user data is sent to a third-party service.

Users can activate the translation service and select the language they want to translate a web page into. Currently, supported languages include English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, and Bulgarian. Mozilla plans to add more languages in the future.

Firefox, formerly known as Phoenix and then Firefox, has earned a reputation as one of the top browsers emphasizing user privacy. It’s available on Android smartphones and tablets.

Since its initial release, Firefox has gained over 25 million downloads in just 99 days, making it the most downloaded open-source free software on the internet. Remarkably, it reached 100 million downloads in less than a year, precisely 344 days.

Firefox has garnered attention as an alternative to other web browsers like Internet Explorer by Microsoft and Safari by Apple. With this new offline translation feature, Firefox continues to innovate and enhance the user experience.
