Zelensky Seeks European Input on Peace Deal Framework

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Tuesday that Ukrainian and American negotiators have refined a framework for a potential peace agreement, initially drafted in Geneva.

In a statement posted online, Zelensky affirmed that the work was based on the Geneva document, which has now been revised. He emphasized the importance of broader international involvement, stating, “Our diplomats are actively working with all partners to ensure the meaningful participation of European nations and other parties within a coalition of those genuinely interested in shaping the decisions.”

Zelensky indicated that he has instructed the Ukrainian team to “continue working as constructively as possible.” He further asserted Ukraine’s commitment to diplomatic efforts, saying, “Ukraine treats all diplomatic endeavors with the utmost seriousness. We are committed to achieving a genuine peace and ensuring security… This is precisely the level of commitment that the Russian side must demonstrate.”

Ukrainian and American officials have been discussing American proposals for over a week in Geneva. Further talks were held on Sunday in Florida. These discussions come as diplomatic efforts intensify to find a resolution to the ongoing conflict. The focus remains on establishing a framework that can lead to lasting peace and security in the region. The Ukrainian government stresses the necessity of a reciprocal commitment from all parties involved.
