Algiers – The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the opening of applications for doctoral programs across five universities for the academic year 2025/2026. A total of 706 positions are available.
According to a ministry statement, the doctoral entrance examinations will be held at Université de Sétif 1, Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology, University of Tlemcen, University of Annaba, and University of Sidi Bel Abbes. This initiative is in collaboration with 13 higher education institutions and 12 research centers, fostering knowledge exchange in scientific research and innovation, alongside existing cooperation agreements.
The competition spans 18 academic disciplines, with the 706 available positions distributed across various doctoral schools. The entrance examinations will take place between January 20th and January 31st, 2026, utilizing a fully digital approach via the integrated information system.
Applications will be accepted and choices confirmed by candidates between December 13th and December 22nd, 2025, through the dedicated online portal: Https://progres.mesrs.dz/doctorat_visibilité.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, has outlined a series of decisions and organizational measures aimed at improving student conditions and developing the training system within Algerian universities. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to modernize the sector’s structures and regulations.
Furthermore, the deadline for submitting and defending doctoral theses has been extended until the end of 2026, providing researchers with ample time to complete their scholarly work under favorable conditions.
