Palestinian Journalist Death Toll Rises Amid Gaza Conflict

The number of Palestinian journalists killed since the start of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip has tragically climbed to 257. This somber milestone follows the confirmed death of another journalist on Tuesday in the southern part of the region.

According to a statement released by the Government Media Office in Gaza, journalist Mahmoud Wadi was killed as a result of an Israeli strike in the center of Khan Yunis. The office condemned the incident as a continuation of ongoing violations against civilians and journalists.

The Government Media Office emphasized that the death toll among Palestinian journalists continues to rise since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza. They asserted that the targeting of journalists is systematic and deliberate. A call has been issued to the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all media organizations worldwide to take a firm stance in condemning these violations.

Since the beginning of the offensive on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have been accused of directly targeting journalists, destroying dozens of media institutions, offices, channels, and radio stations operating in the Gaza Strip. Dozens of journalists have been detained, and approximately 400 others have been injured, some suffering permanent disabilities such as paralysis or amputations.

DZWatch continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available.

This is a developing story.
