Skikda, Algeria – Authorities in Skikda have apprehended five individuals suspected of attempting to steal a luxury vehicle. The suspects were taken into custody following a swift response by local law enforcement.
According to a statement released by the National Security Directorate, police received a report via their green line (48-15) concerning an assault on a citizen and an attempted carjacking. The victim reported being attacked by a group of individuals who were attempting to steal his vehicle. The perpetrators allegedly used another vehicle, described as blue with a foreign license plate, to facilitate their escape.
“The immediate response to the report and the rapid intervention of operational units, coupled with the utilization of a video clip circulating on social media documenting the incident, enabled the swift arrest of the suspects, numbering five individuals,” the statement detailed. Authorities also seized the vehicle allegedly used by the suspects, along with a bladed weapon and a balaclava found in their possession.
The suspects have been presented before the relevant prosecution authorities, and legal proceedings are underway. The swift action by Skikda police underscores their commitment to maintaining law and order within the region.
