Gaza City – The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported Wednesday that the death toll in Gaza has surpassed 70,000 since October 7, 2023. The number of injured now stands at 170,999, with women and children comprising a significant portion of the casualties.
According to health officials, hospitals in Gaza received five additional bodies and treated 13 new injuries in the last 48 hours. Rescue and civil defense teams continue to face immense challenges in accessing victims trapped under rubble and in the streets due to ongoing obstacles.
The Ministry further stated that since the implementation of the ceasefire last October, 360 Palestinians have been killed and 922 wounded. The remains of 617 individuals have been recovered.
For over two years, Gaza has endured extensive devastation, with accusations of widespread destruction, displacement, and starvation. International appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the conflict have seemingly gone unheeded.
The situation remains dire, and concerns continue to mount regarding the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available.
