Algeria and Azerbaijan Forge Stronger Ties with New Cooperation Agreement

Algiers, November 4, 2025 – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, today at the Ministry headquarters in Algiers. The visit underscores the growing importance of bilateral relations between the two nations.

The ministers engaged in a private meeting followed by expanded discussions involving delegations from both countries. These talks provided an opportunity to review the positive momentum in Algerian-Azerbaijani relations, a dynamic fostered by the special attention it receives from the leaders of both nations: President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his brother, President Ilham Aliyev.

During the discussions, both ministers emphasized the need to build upon the existing convergence of political views and to leverage the significant economic potential of both countries to elevate bilateral cooperation to promising new levels. Particular attention was paid to exploring opportunities in trade, investment, and energy cooperation.

Furthermore, Minister Attaf and Minister Bayramov exchanged perspectives and analyses on a range of issues of mutual interest, most notably developments in the Palestinian issue and the evolving situations in their respective regions. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to promoting peace, stability, and security on the international stage.

At the conclusion of the talks, the two ministers signed a bilateral agreement establishing a joint committee for commercial, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation between Algeria and Azerbaijan. This committee will serve as a crucial mechanism for identifying and implementing joint projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening ties across various sectors.

This agreement signifies a significant step forward in solidifying the partnership between Algeria and Azerbaijan, paving the way for enhanced collaboration and mutual benefit in the years to come.
