Minister Attaf Meets South African Deputy Minister Alvin Botes

Algiers, Algeria – Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Alvin Botes, this morning at the Ministry headquarters.

Mr. Botes is in Algeria for an official visit primarily to represent his country at the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, the “Oran Process”, held in Algiers on December 1st and 2nd, 2025.

During their discussions, both parties expressed satisfaction with the increasing pace of cooperation between the two brotherly countries, particularly in the context of implementing the outcomes of the recent session of the High Joint Commission. This session was held in Algiers under the joint chairmanship of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa.

Both sides also noted the harmony and alignment of their positions on just causes at the continental and international levels, especially concerning the Palestinian issue and the issue of Western Sahara. They reaffirmed their commitment to relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the established United Nations doctrine in the field of decolonization.

The meeting underscores the continued strengthening of diplomatic ties and cooperation between Algeria and South Africa on key regional and international issues.
