Air Algérie to Transform into Holding Company Structure

Algiers, December 4, 2025 – Air Algérie is undergoing a significant organizational restructuring, transitioning into a holding company structure, DZWatch has learned. This strategic move is expected to provide the national airline with numerous operational and financial advantages.

According to sources within the company, the restructuring aims to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. As part of this transformation, Air Algérie will launch two new subsidiaries dedicated to ground services and aviation training, respectively. These new entities, Air Algérie Ground Operation and the Aviation Academy, are slated to commence operations in January 2026.

“The company is actively restructuring its activities by transforming the maintenance division into an independent subsidiary, in addition to creating a new activity related to the organization of tourist trips,” a company spokesperson stated. This move towards a holding company model will provide Air Algérie with tangible benefits stemming from its new legal structure.

This restructuring complements Air Algérie’s existing subsidiaries, which include catering, cargo, Amadeus Algeria, and Domestic Airlines. The establishment of dedicated ground services and training divisions underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing its overall service quality and operational capabilities.

Air Algérie officials emphasized the airline’s extensive experience and expertise in various aviation professions, recognized by accreditation bodies and international professional organizations. The airline aims to leverage this experience by transforming activities into specialized subsidiaries, improving performance, sharing risks and costs, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
