Algeria is set to host the fourth edition of the African Startup Conference from December 6th to 8th. The event is poised to be a crucial gathering for technology professionals, investors, and stakeholders from across Africa and beyond.
Nourredine Ouadhi, Algeria’s Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, emphasized the significance of the conference. He stated that it provides a unique continental platform for open and pragmatic discussions on innovation and project funding. The Minister highlighted the growing awareness among African ministers that Algeria’s December conference represents a major opportunity for collaborative African efforts supporting startups and innovation. He further added that the conference is now a cornerstone for Algerian and African innovation strategies.
Efforts are underway to ensure the success of this continental event and to maximize its impact on the national and continental levels. This edition will feature a high-level ministerial summit addressing key issues such as the exchange of best practices among African nations to harmonize public policies, encourage the emergence of continental champions, and enhance the contribution of startups to the continent’s economic development.
The conference will also examine incentive policies for private investment, the creation of funding mechanisms, and the updating of the Algiers Declaration, initially adopted in 2022. The updated declaration will then be submitted to the African Union for broader implementation. This year’s edition will welcome 35 official African delegations, represented by ministers or secretaries-general, as well as institutional delegations from the African Union and other international organizations. Rwanda has been designated as the guest of honor.
Organizers anticipate between 25,000 and 30,000 participants and approximately 200 exhibitors. The conference, themed “For the Emergence of African Champions,” will spotlight the success stories of entrepreneurs who have built leading technology companies across the continent. It will also serve as a showcase for innovative projects and initiatives.
