The Interior Ministry in Gaza announced today that the death of armed militia leader Yasser Abu Shabab is the inevitable fate of anyone who betrays the Palestinian people and aligns themselves with the Israeli occupation. The ministry urged all individuals involved in criminal groups to immediately surrender to security forces.
In a statement, the Ministry said it will address the cases of those who surrender and facilitate lighter sentences. It emphasized that the Israeli occupation’s protection of traitors is temporary. The Ministry asserted that the Israeli occupation has failed to undermine the unity of the Palestinian people, and that the terrorist gangs it has formed to disrupt internal security will be isolated and ultimately eliminated.
The Gaza Interior Ministry expressed its appreciation for the stance taken by families and clans in disavowing criminals involved with gangs established by the occupation. This statement follows a similar declaration by Hamas yesterday, which stated that the death of Yasser Abu Shabab, a leader of militias cooperating with the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, is the expected outcome for anyone who betrays their people and nation, and chooses to become a tool in the hands of the occupation.
Hamas’s statement further condemned Abu Shabab’s actions and those of his gang as a blatant departure from national and social norms. Hamas also commended the families, tribes, and clans that disowned Abu Shabab and all those involved in attacks against their people or cooperation with the occupation, withdrawing tribal and social cover from this isolated group that represents only itself.
Israeli media outlets had previously reported the death of Yasser Abu Shabab in clashes between clans in Gaza. The Tarabin tribe in the Gaza Strip confirmed his death, stating that his blood had erased a shameful chapter. The tribe’s statement asserted that his death marked the end of a dark page that does not reflect the tribe’s history or positions, adding that he had betrayed his family’s trust and become involved with the occupation.
Meanwhile, the “Abu Shabab/Popular Forces” group confirmed the death of its leader, Abu Shabab, describing him as the founder of the Popular Forces, on its Facebook account.
