Severe Weather Alert Issued for Central and Eastern Algeria

Algiers, December 5, 2025 – The National Meteorological Office has issued a severe weather alert for several provinces in central and eastern Algeria, warning of heavy rainfall and strong winds throughout the day.

The alert indicates that significant rainfall, ranging from 30 to 50 millimeters and potentially exceeding 60 millimeters in localized areas, is expected to impact the following provinces: Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Setif, and Mila. The provinces of Oum El Bouaghi, Khenchela, Tebessa, Souk Ahras, Guelma, and Constantine are also under the rainfall warning, which remains in effect until 9:00 PM local time.

In addition to the heavy rainfall, strong winds are forecast to sweep across a wider region. The provinces of El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Algiers, Tipaza, Tebessa, Khenchela, Batna, Biskra, M’Sila, Ouled Djellal, Djelfa, Tiaret, Laghouat, and El Bayadh are expected to experience winds ranging from 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. This wind advisory is also in effect until 9:00 PM local time.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed of the latest weather updates. Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution while traveling and to secure loose objects that could be displaced by the strong winds.
