Algiers – The Bank of Algeria issued a statement today reminding Algerian residents of their annual foreign exchange allowance for travel abroad. The allowance, set at €750 for adults and €300 for minors, is available to each eligible citizen once per year.
The statement references Instruction No. 05-2025, dated July 17, 2025, which details the regulations concerning foreign exchange allowances for travel. The Bank of Algeria emphasizes that this allowance is available once within the reference year defined in the aforementioned instruction.
The reference year spans from July 20th to July 19th of the following year. Citizens are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly to take advantage of their allowance within this timeframe.
Furthermore, the Bank of Algeria reiterated that the foreign exchange allowance is strictly for the benefit of the intended traveler. Article 10 of Instruction No. 05-2025 explicitly prohibits and penalizes any attempts to misuse or divert the allocated funds, in accordance with applicable legislation.
The Bank of Algeria urges citizens to adhere to these regulations to ensure the proper and transparent use of the foreign exchange allowance program. This measure is designed to facilitate legitimate travel needs of Algerian citizens while safeguarding against potential financial irregularities.
