Bank of Algeria Reminds Citizens of Annual Travel Allowance

Algiers, December 7, 2025 – The Bank of Algeria issued a statement today reminding Algerian citizens of their annual right to a foreign exchange allowance for travel abroad.

The allowance, set at 750 Euros for adult citizens and 300 Euros for minors, is available to every resident Algerian citizen once per year, according to the bank’s statement. This allowance is intended to facilitate international travel for personal or tourism purposes.

The statement references Presidential Decree and Bank of Algeria Instruction No. 05-2025, dated July 17, 2025, which governs the allocation of foreign currency for travel. The Bank of Algeria emphasizes that the reference year for this allowance runs from July 20th to July 19th of the following year.

“In line with the President’s decision to increase the travel allowance to 750 Euros for adults and 300 Euros for minors, the Bank of Algeria reminds citizens that this right is available once per reference year, as defined in the aforementioned instruction,” the statement read.

The Bank of Algeria further clarified that the exchange allowance is exclusively for the intended beneficiary. The statement explicitly warned against any misuse or fraudulent activity related to the travel allowance.

The statement emphasized that Article 10 of Instruction No. 05-2025 strictly prohibits and penalizes any attempt to divert the use of the foreign exchange allowance, in accordance with existing legislation. The Bank of Algeria is committed to ensuring that the travel allowance is used responsibly and for its intended purpose.
