Saidal Eyes Oman for New Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant

Algiers, December 7, 2025 – Algeria’s state-owned pharmaceutical group, Saidal, is exploring the establishment of a manufacturing plant in Oman, marking a significant step in expanding its regional reach.

The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouideri, is currently on a working visit to Oman from December 7th to 9th, 2025, according to a statement released by the ministry. He and his delegation were received this morning by the Omani Minister of Health, Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Muscat.

During the meeting, both parties engaged in discussions covering a range of critical issues, most notably the mutual recognition of drug registration between the Algerian National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products and its Omani counterpart. This initiative aims to streamline the drug registration process and bolster trade relations between the two nations in the pharmaceutical sector.

A key topic of discussion was the proposed establishment of a Saidal manufacturing plant in Oman. The facility would focus on producing pharmaceutical products in both solid and liquid forms, with the goal of meeting the growing demands of the Omani market and neighboring countries.

DZWatch understands that this project aligns with the directives of both Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who have emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Oman.

This venture represents a significant opportunity for Saidal to expand its manufacturing footprint and contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the region. Further details regarding the plant’s specific product lines and projected timeline are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
