Algerian Speaker Boghali Meets Qatari Counterpart to Boost Parliamentary Ties

Doha, Qatar – Ibrahim Boghali, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly of Algeria, held extensive talks with Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Chairman of the Qatari Shura Council, in Doha on Sunday. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise between the two parliamentary bodies, according to an official statement from the Algerian parliament.

The discussions provided an opportunity to explore mechanisms for enhancing collaboration and dialogue between the parliaments, facilitating the exchange of experiences in both legislative and oversight domains. Furthermore, the two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Boghali emphasized the importance of elevating joint efforts within the Arab Parliamentary Union to meet the aspirations of Arab populations. He called for enhanced coordination across various international forums and advocated for expanding cooperation to include administrative aspects through parliamentary friendship groups.

The Chairman of the Qatari Shura Council lauded the strong bilateral relations between Algeria and Qatar, stressing the need to further strengthen and deepen these ties. He also acknowledged Boghali’s leadership during his tenure as President of the Arab Parliamentary Union and the tangible progress achieved in joint parliamentary work and consultations among Arab parliaments.

The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on parliamentary cooperation between the two councils. This agreement establishes a robust parliamentary partnership based on equality, mutual trust, and shared interests, ultimately reinforcing sustainable cooperation frameworks between Algeria and Qatar.
