Blida, Algeria – Police in Blida have arrested a 34-year-old man suspected of engaging in illegal speculation in the sale of vehicles. The arrest was made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Unit as part of ongoing efforts to combat illicit trading practices and safeguard consumer rights.
According to official reports, the suspect allegedly obtained a significant number of commercial vehicles, estimated at around 100, through an order placed with an authorized car dealership. The vehicles were purportedly intended for use in his declared commercial activity. However, authorities allege that shortly after receiving the vehicles, the suspect began reselling the majority of them through unofficial channels.
Investigators claim the suspect exploited the scarcity of vehicles in the market to inflate prices excessively. This constitutes a clear violation of the law pertaining to the fight against illegal speculation. Law enforcement officials further assert that the suspect misused the pretense of professional use to acquire the vehicles, subsequently offering them for sale at inflated prices to generate unjustified profits.
This practice is considered speculation and hoarding of goods, aiming to manipulate the market and disrupt fair competition.
Following the investigation, the suspect was presented before the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Boufarik Court for the necessary legal proceedings.
