The Saudi Arabian Embassy in Algeria, under the patronage of Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Busairi, hosted a cancer awareness event on Monday as part of the KSA10 initiative. This event, organized in collaboration with the Badr Association for Cancer Patients and specialized physicians, aimed to promote prevention and early detection of the disease.
The initiative, launched under the banner “Together for Health” by Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, underscores the importance of unified efforts in raising awareness about various types of cancer. It also emphasizes the critical role of early detection and regular check-ups as the primary defense against the disease, helping to reduce incidence rates and fatalities.
The event highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to combating cancer through various programs. These include supporting early detection initiatives, developing advanced treatment and prevention centers, and implementing extensive awareness campaigns. Such efforts have significantly contributed to spreading knowledge and providing vital psychological and social support to patients and their families.
During the event, attendees were shown a video showcasing the King Abdulaziz Cancer Center in Annaba, a facility funded by the Kingdom. The video highlighted the center’s services and its crucial role in the fight against cancer in the region. The center provides essential resources and treatment options for patients across Algeria.
On the sidelines of the main event, basic health screenings, including tests for diabetes and blood pressure, were also offered to attendees, further emphasizing the importance of preventative healthcare measures. The KSA10 initiative underscores the commitment of both Saudi Arabia and Algeria to improve public health and well-being through collaborative efforts.
