Boumerdès, Algeria – The Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nassima Arehab, officially inaugurated the African Vocational Training Institute in Boumerdès province earlier today. The ceremony was attended by Salma Bakhta Mansouri, Secretary of State in charge of African Affairs, Gaspard Banyankimbona, the African Union Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, and Fouzia Naama, the Governor of Boumerdès.
This new training facility underscores Algeria’s commitment to strengthening intra-African cooperation and fostering professional partnerships through the exchange of expertise and the development of skills across various technical disciplines. The institute began welcoming its first cohort of African trainees in early November, boasting a significant capacity of 1000 pedagogical seats, enabling the accommodation of trainees from multiple African nations within a comprehensive training program.
The institute features state-of-the-art pedagogical infrastructure, including classrooms equipped with the latest educational tools, internationally standardized applied laboratories, and dedicated practical training spaces. This makes it a model center for specialized technical training on the continental level. Algeria is fully sponsoring the African trainees, covering their accommodation, meals, and transportation.
Furthermore, in an innovative initiative, each trainee will receive a complete professional tool kit upon completion of their training, empowering them to launch their professional projects immediately upon returning to their home countries. The inauguration of this institute is a strategic move that enhances Boumerdès province’s position as a regional hub for training and qualification and reinforces Algeria’s role as a pivotal player in advancing the professional and technical skills of African youth, fostering constructive and continuous cooperation among the continent’s nations.
