Algerian Media Condemns French Campaign Against Algeria

Algiers, December 8, 2025 – Several national news outlets have strongly condemned what they describe as a coordinated political and media campaign orchestrated by certain French circles hostile to Algeria.

This condemnation follows the confirmation by the Tizi Ouzou court of the sentence against French journalist Christophe Glayz. Glayz was apprehended after entering Algeria allegedly disguised as a tourist. Authorities claim his intention was to disseminate a fabricated narrative, deemed to be part of a subversive operation, in support of a terrorist organization, specifically the MAK (Movement for the Autonomy of Kabylie).

Reports across various Algerian newspapers highlight a perceived pattern of negative coverage and political maneuvering emanating from France. These media outlets accuse certain French entities of attempting to destabilize Algeria through disinformation and by supporting separatist movements.

El Watan, a prominent Algerian daily, published an editorial stating that “these campaigns are not isolated incidents but rather a deliberate attempt to undermine Algeria’s sovereignty and stability.” The editorial further accused the French media of biased reporting and of providing a platform for individuals and organizations with anti-Algerian agendas.

Another national newspaper, Echourouk, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of vigilance against foreign interference. The newspaper called on the Algerian public to be aware of what it termed as “propaganda aimed at sowing discord and division within Algerian society.”

The Algerian government has yet to issue an official statement regarding these accusations, but the widespread coverage in national media suggests a growing concern over the perceived French campaign. The situation surrounding Glayz continues to fuel tensions between the two nations, raising questions about the future of Franco-Algerian relations.
