Algiers – Algeria and Somalia are deepening their media and communication partnership following a meeting between Algerian Minister of Communication, Zouheir Bouamama, and Somali Minister of Communications and Technology, Mohamed Adam Maalim. The meeting took place in Algiers on December 8, 2025.
Minister Maalim is currently visiting Algeria to participate in the African Day of Communications events and the African Ministerial Forum on Digital Platforms. The discussions focused on exploring avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation in media, communication, and digital technology. Both ministers acknowledged the rapid transformations occurring in these sectors across Africa and globally.
Key areas of discussion included the development of partnerships in digital platforms, the exchange of media expertise, and increased coordination between specialized institutions in both countries. The aim is to serve mutual interests and strengthen their media presence within the African sphere.
This meeting underscores the growing momentum in Algerian-Somali relations. It follows the official visit of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Algeria in November 2025, which unlocked new opportunities for cooperation in several strategic sectors.
Both nations share a commitment to joint efforts in promoting media content, developing communication infrastructure, and supporting digital transformation across Africa. This collaboration aims to foster sustainable development and reinforce South-South cooperation.
