Sonarem and Tosyali Forge Strategic Partnership

Algiers – Sonarem and Tosyali Algeria have solidified a strategic partnership aimed at boosting the nation’s mining and steel industries. The collaboration focuses on maximizing the value of iron ore extracted from the Gara Djebilet mine.

Redha Belhadj, Director General of Sonarem, met with Alp Topcuoglu, CEO of Tosyali Algeria, earlier this week to discuss and advance the industrial partnership between the two entities. The meeting underscored the strong relationship and mutual desire to elevate cooperation, particularly in mining and manufacturing, aligning with a strategic vision for the national economy.

This partnership builds upon the establishment of a joint venture dedicated to valorizing iron ore from Gara Djebilet. The project aims to produce concentrated iron, initially at a capacity of 4 million tons per year, utilizing advanced phosphorus treatment technologies. This will significantly enhance the industrial value and economic return of the extracted ore.

This investment represents a pivotal step in Algeria’s national strategy to leverage its mineral resources, strengthen industrial sovereignty, promote industrial integration and technology transfer, create wealth and jobs, and support sustainable economic growth.

Both Sonarem and Tosyali Algeria have affirmed their commitment to a shared vision based on trust and integration. Their goal is to transform Gara Djebilet into a strategic mining and industrial hub with regional and international prominence, ultimately reinforcing Algeria’s position in the iron and steel industry.
