Algiers, Algeria – Algeria is bracing for a significant shift in weather patterns starting in mid-December, according to meteorological forecasts. A potent weather system, carrying substantial amounts of rain and snow, is expected to move across the country, particularly affecting northern regions and higher elevations.
The approaching system is anticipated to bring genuine winter conditions to Algeria during the second half of December. Forecasts indicate that the impact will begin gradually around mid-December, with heavy rainfall expected across several northern provinces. Significant snowfall is also predicted in mountainous areas and the high plateaus.
While the initial days of December are expected to remain relatively stable, the approaching weather front is poised to deliver a marked change. Southern regions are also likely to experience weather activity. Central Saharan areas are predicted to see increased thunderstorm activity, with the possibility of heavy and scattered rainfall in the provinces of Adrar, Tamanrasset, Illizi, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and Timimoun. This is attributed to a low-pressure system developing in the region, enhancing the likelihood of weather disturbances during intermittent periods.
The intensity of the approaching weather system is projected to increase as it draws closer, potentially prompting a special weather bulletin from the national meteorological services. Authorities may issue the bulletin if the severity and widespread impact of the disturbance are confirmed. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
