Bratislava – Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf officially inaugurated the Algerian embassy in Bratislava, Slovakia, on Tuesday. The inauguration marked the commencement of his official visit to the Slovak Republic, undertaken on behalf of the President of Algeria.
The ceremony was attended by Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, and Marek Eštok, State Secretary at the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Also present were the ambassadors of both countries, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of the Algerian community residing in Slovakia.
In his address, Minister Attaf emphasized the significance of reciprocal diplomatic representation between Algeria and Slovakia in bolstering the growing friendship, cooperation, and partnership between the two nations. He expressed his hope to elevate these relations to even greater heights.
The Minister also voiced his satisfaction with the shared commitment of both countries to common international values, such as peace and justice. He highlighted their joint efforts to uphold the principles of international law, the multilateral system, the sovereignty and independence of states, and the rejection of foreign interference in internal affairs, as well as the right of nations to self-determination.
On the bilateral front, Minister Attaf underscored Algeria’s commitment, through the opening of its embassy in Slovakia, to consolidating bilateral cooperation, continuing political consultations, and exploring new avenues for collaboration in promising and priority economic sectors. These include agriculture, industry, and new technologies. Furthermore, the embassy aims to strengthen human and cultural ties between the Algerian and Slovak peoples.
The opening of the embassy represents a significant step in deepening the relationship between Algeria and Slovakia. It signals a renewed focus on enhanced cooperation across various sectors.
