In a significant development, Youssef Hamdan Abu Bakr, the representative of the Hamas movement in Algeria, has commended the decision of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to dispatch urgent humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip. This decision, announced on Saturday, underscores Algeria’s staunch stance in advocating Palestinian rights and standing in solidarity with a populace subjected to war crimes in their defense of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.

Hamdan emphasized that this humanitarian and fraternal gesture highlights Algeria’s advanced position in defending Palestinian rights and standing alongside a nation exposed to war crimes in its battle to defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.

Moreover, the Hamas representative pointed out that this aid arrives at a critical moment when the Palestinian people are awaiting immediate intervention from the Arab and Islamic world. Specifically, they anticipate assistance at the level of civil defense teams, crucial for rescue operations and the retrieval of hundreds of martyrs and injured individuals from the rubble.

In his statement, Hamdan urged for the expedited opening of the Rafah crossing without conditions or restrictions. This call comes particularly as hospitals in the Gaza Strip are experiencing an overwhelming influx of thousands of wounded individuals, signaling a looming severe health catastrophe.

On another note, the spokesperson praised Algeria’s stance of refraining from participating in the Egypt Peace Summit. He highlighted that the summit’s timing, coinciding with the ongoing slaughter of Palestinians in full view of the world, is highly inappropriate.

He also considered that any summit or stance that equates the victim and the oppressor, and does not unequivocally support the Palestinians’ right to defend themselves, serves as a political diversion. Such diversions afford the Zionist occupation additional time to continue its heinous practices against the Palestinian people. He affirmed that these would not lead to peace with an enemy that flagrantly violates international and humanitarian law.

In wrapping up, the situation in Gaza remains dire, and the actions of leaders in the region, including Algeria’s show of support, play a crucial role in the ongoing crisis. The international community’s eye is fixed on these developments, awaiting further actions that uphold humanitarian aid and a commitment to enduring peace in the region.
