National Gendarmerie Dismantles Fraud Ring, Appeals to Victims

Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria – The National Gendarmerie has successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in defrauding citizens through a fraudulent installment sales scheme. The operation, conducted by the regional group of the National Gendarmerie in Sidi Bel Abbes, resulted in the arrest of four individuals, while three others remain at large.

According to an official statement, the suspects, aged between 32 and 37, operated as part of a criminal network targeting citizens by falsely promising the sale of household appliances on installment plans with fictitious financial incentives.

The operation was initiated following thorough investigations by the National Gendarmerie’s research and investigation services. This followed numerous complaints from victims who had been defrauded by owners of fake household appliance stores. After completing the investigation procedures, the suspects were presented before the competent judicial authorities at the Sidi Bel Abbes court. The court issued orders for their temporary detention pending the completion of the case proceedings.

The National Gendarmerie has issued an urgent appeal to anyone who has fallen victim to this criminal network, or who possesses information that could assist the investigation, to come forward. Victims are encouraged to contact the Research and Investigation Service of the National Gendarmerie in Sidi Bel Abbes or the nearest National Gendarmerie unit across the country. This is to provide their testimony to reclaim their rights and prosecute the remaining fugitives involved in this scheme.
