National Campaign Launched to Clean Schools During Winter Break

Algiers – A nationwide campaign to clean and refurbish educational institutions will be launched during the winter break, DZWatch has learned. The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of National Education, aims to improve hygiene and safety standards across Algerian schools.

Minister of National Education, Mohamed Sghir Saadaoui, issued strict instructions to education directors across all provinces to commence the campaign. The focus will be on cleaning, maintenance, and painting of school facilities, in collaboration with local communities. The goal is to present a refreshed and welcoming environment for students upon their return.

The Minister’s directives follow earlier instructions issued by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of National Education, emphasizing the importance of strengthening health and safety measures within educational institutions. Particular attention will be paid to preventing the spread of communicable diseases and ensuring a safe and healthy school environment.

The national campaign will involve close coordination between the Ministry of National Education, various government sectors, institutions, organizations, and parent-teacher associations. The aim is to clean and sanitize all educational institutions, encompassing primary, middle, and secondary schools, as well as their surrounding areas.

The directive emphasizes the crucial need for effective coordination with municipal heads and health departments. Key areas of focus include:

  • Prioritizing the cleaning of school cafeterias and boarding facilities.
  • Thorough cleaning and sanitization of all school facilities, including classrooms, administrative offices, and restrooms.
  • Maintenance of restrooms and sewage systems.
  • Eliminating all sources of pollution that could contribute to the spread of communicable diseases.

Furthermore, the campaign will address waste management, water safety, and hygiene practices. Specific measures include:

  • Removing all types of waste from school premises.
  • Disinfecting and treating water tanks and reservoirs.
  • Ensuring the availability of soap and water in restrooms to promote hand hygiene.
  • Preventing the consumption and use of unregulated water sources.

The Ministry hopes that this comprehensive campaign will create a healthier and more conducive learning environment for all students across Algeria.
