Managua, Nicaragua – The President of the Nicaraguan National Assembly, Gustavo Porras, has affirmed Algeria’s role as a source of inspiration for freedom-seeking nations worldwide. He highlighted Algeria’s unwavering defense of just causes and its steadfast resistance against all forms of injustice and colonialism.
Porras expressed Nicaragua’s eagerness to expand cooperation with Algeria across various fields. His remarks came during a meeting on Wednesday with a delegation from the Algerian Parliamentary Friendship Group, led by Ahmed Mezouzi, at the Parliament headquarters in Managua.
Mezouzi conveyed greetings from Brahim Boughali, Speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly, to his Nicaraguan counterpart, emphasizing Boughali’s keen interest in revitalizing parliamentary diplomacy mechanisms. He noted that parliamentary friendship groups are pivotal in strengthening ties between peoples and legislative institutions.
The head of the Algerian delegation expressed satisfaction with the broad alignment of positions and visions between Algeria and Nicaragua on numerous international and regional issues. He underscored both nations’ commitment to shared principles, primarily supporting the right of peoples to self-determination.
“Algeria remains a true beacon for nations striving for freedom across the globe,” Porras stated, reiterating his delight in hosting the Algerian delegation. He emphasized Algeria’s continuous struggle in defense of just causes and its categorical rejection of all forms of injustice and colonial dominance.
Algerian Ambassador to Nicaragua, Ali Menguelati, affirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad to coordinate and consult effectively to enhance cooperation between the legislative bodies of both countries. He expressed the Ministry’s willingness to facilitate all initiatives aimed at elevating these relations to broader horizons. The meeting saw high-level participation, reflecting its significance.
