Nablus Under Siege: Israeli forces conducted a raid in the Old City of Nablus in the West Bank early Thursday morning. Reports indicate that Israeli special forces infiltrated the Al-Qaisariya neighborhood, surrounding a house before additional military vehicles entered the area.
Local sources reported increased military presence and activity within the city, causing disruption and unease among residents.
Settler Violence Escalates: In a separate incident, settlers reportedly vandalized agricultural property in the village of Kafr ad-Dik, west of Salfit, overnight. Local sources stated that settlers broke into a farm building, damaging its doors and contents. This marks the third such attack on the property, which is repeatedly rebuilt by its owners. Villagers in Kafr ad-Dik have reported ongoing harassment and destruction of property by settlers, aimed at expanding nearby settlements.
Mosques Raided in Deir Ibzi’: On Wednesday evening, Israeli forces reportedly entered the village of Deir Ibzi’, west of Ramallah. According to the head of the local council, Imad al-Taweel, soldiers entered the village and deployed around the Grand Mosque and Al-Tawhid Mosque during the evening prayer.
Al-Taweel stated that soldiers closed the main entrance of Al-Tawhid Mosque, waited for prayers to end, and then forced worshippers to exit individually. Soldiers then checked their identification, searched them, and questioned them about personal information. An elderly man was reportedly searched and prevented from reaching the Grand Mosque.
Hamas Condemns Settlement Expansion: The Hamas movement has strongly condemned Israel’s approval of plans to construct hundreds of new settlement units in the West Bank. The organization views this as a blatant violation of international law and an attempt to further displace Palestinians from their land. This expansion exacerbates tensions and undermines any prospect for a lasting peace.
