Ouargla, Algeria – A major operation by the Regional Service for Combating Organized Crime in Ouargla has resulted in the seizure of a massive quantity of psychotropic drugs and firearms from a farm located in the region. The raid, conducted on November 30, 2025, targeted a farm owned by a person identified as (Z.S.) in the Kara Krima area of Ouargla.
According to a statement released by the Ouargla Court Council, the operation yielded a staggering 665,550 capsules of the psychotropic drug Pregabalin. In addition to the drugs, authorities also discovered a cache of weapons, including a Kalashnikov assault rifle with a magazine containing 27 rounds, two hunting rifles, 81 rounds of live ammunition, two transceivers, three Thuraya satellite communication devices with SIM cards, and binoculars. Several vehicles believed to be used for smuggling were also impounded.
During the raid, law enforcement officers arrested four individuals: (M.B.A.) and (M.M.B.A.), both of foreign nationality, along with (K.M.A.) and (B.Q.B.). Subsequent investigations revealed an organized criminal network comprising nine individuals.
On December 10, 2025, the suspects were presented before the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Specialized Criminal Pole in Ouargla. A judicial investigation has been launched against them for charges including the possession, storage, and purchase for sale of psychotropic substances within a transnational organized criminal group using firearms. They also face charges of smuggling that pose a serious threat to public safety and health, as well as the illegal possession of Category 1 and 5 weapons and ammunition without a license.
Following questioning by the investigating judge at the Specialized Criminal Pole Court, detention orders were issued for (Mohamed Bilal Omar), (Mohamed Moussa Bilal Omar), (Kalgelgh Mohamed Aissa), and (Ben Galia Belkheir). The investigation remains ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects who are currently at large.
