Algiers, December 12, 2025 – The National Meteorological Office has issued a severe weather alert for several regions across Algeria, forecasting heavy thunderstorms and strong winds. The alert, released Friday morning, warns residents to take necessary precautions.
The initial alert, designated as Level 1, specifically covers the wilayas of Naama, El Bayadh, Bechar, Beni Abbes, Tindouf, Touggourt, Ghardaia, El Menia, Ouargla, and In Salah. The region is bracing for strong winds, with gusts expected to begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 6:00 PM this evening. These strong winds could pose a threat to infrastructure and increase the risk of dust storms, further reducing visibility.
