Tunis, Tunisia – Algeria and Tunisia are moving towards a comprehensive strategic partnership, aiming to deepen cooperation across all sectors. This announcement came from Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib during a press conference held at the conclusion of the 23rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian Joint High Commission.
Ghrib emphasized that relations between the two nations are experiencing a qualitative leap, driven by the shared political will of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Tunisian counterpart, Kais Saied. This commitment paves the way for a new phase of economic integration and strategic alliance.
During his address on December 12, 2025, in Tunis, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and the deep fraternal ties binding the two peoples. He affirmed that the current session of the Joint Commission facilitated an assessment of the level of cooperation and a projection of its promising prospects.
New agreements have been signed to strengthen the legal and institutional framework for collaboration, particularly in priority sectors such as security, energy, industry, investment, and the economy. Both countries are aiming to diversify partnerships and expand trade beyond hydrocarbons, while also encouraging joint investments in areas where they possess significant potential and promising opportunities.
The Prime Minister also noted the success of the Algerian-Tunisian Economic Forum, considering its outcomes as practical evidence of a serious commitment to building an integrated economic partnership that enhances development and serves the prosperity of both nations.
Emphasis was also placed on promoting cooperation in the humanitarian field, especially in developing border regions, facilitating the movement of citizens, and strengthening cultural and sporting exchanges, reflecting the deep historical links between the two countries.
On the political front, the Prime Minister highlighted the complete alignment of Algeria and Tunisia’s positions on regional issues, foremost of which is the unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.
