Major General Saïd Chengriha, Delegate Minister to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, officially installed Brigadier General Abbas Ibrahim as the Central Director of Army Security on Saturday. This appointment follows Presidential Decree dated December 8, 2025.
The installation ceremony was conducted in the name of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence. Brigadier General Ibrahim succeeds Brigadier General Mahrez Griba in this key role.
During the ceremony, Major General Chengriha emphasized the importance of all personnel operating under the authority of the new Central Director. He stressed the need for obedience to his orders and the diligent execution of his instructions, all in the service of the nation. This, he stated, is in accordance with established military regulations, the laws of the Republic, and in faithful remembrance of the sacrifices of the martyrs and the values of the glorious revolution.
Major General Chengriha issued important directives to the executives of the Directorate, urging them to continue their dedicated efforts in serving the country. He also underscored the necessity of unwavering commitment to their assigned tasks, executed with utmost rigor and perseverance.
The occasion concluded with the formal signing of the handover report between the outgoing Director and the newly appointed Director, marking the official transfer of responsibilities.
This change in leadership reflects the ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the security apparatus of the Algerian People’s National Army.
