These outlets, the ministry asserts, have been disseminating false information intended to tarnish the reputation of the People’s National Army and damage Algeria’s image both regionally and internationally.
In a statement published on its official platforms, the Ministry clarified that these allegations are part of “transparent fabrications and fictitious scenarios” lacking any factual basis. The claims falsely allege that Algeria is establishing mercenary units operating in the Sahel region to carry out clandestine operations. The Ministry vehemently denies these accusations, stating they are completely devoid of credibility and serve the malicious agendas of hostile entities seeking to undermine Algeria’s institutions and stability.
The statement categorically rejects these misleading reports and unfounded accusations, emphasizing that the public is increasingly aware of the falsity of such propaganda campaigns, which are easily seen through and fail to achieve their dubious objectives. The Ministry reiterated that the People’s National Army, heir to the National Liberation Army, performs its duties in strict adherence to the Constitution and laws of the Republic, and in accordance with the principles of Algerian foreign policy based on good neighborliness, respect for the sovereignty of states, and non-interference in their internal affairs, while prioritizing dialogue and peaceful solutions in resolving crises.
Algeria has consistently been a leading advocate for security and peace in the region, particularly in the Sahel, where it is engaged in continuous diplomatic efforts to restore stability. Algeria also firmly rejects the logic of weapons and violence, favoring political and consensual solutions. The Ministry underscored that Algeria, as an integral part of the Sahel region, could never be a factor in destabilizing it. Instead, it continuously strives to support the economic and social development of the region’s peoples, in fulfillment of deep-rooted historical and humanitarian ties.
In a related context, the Ministry of National Defense emphasized that Algeria does not accept being lectured on the issue of counter-terrorism, recalling its bitter experience in confronting it, its pioneering role in eradicating it, and its unwavering commitment to combating it relentlessly.
