Caracas, Venezuela – Large-scale demonstrations have erupted in Caracas and other Venezuelan cities, with government supporters voicing their solidarity with President Nicolas Maduro and condemning what they describe as foreign interference in the nation’s affairs.
Protesters chanted slogans in support of Maduro, underscoring their commitment to defending Venezuela’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty. A key point of contention was the recent seizure of a Venezuelan oil tanker by the United States, an action the demonstrators decried as a blatant violation of international law.
The U.S. action, which occurred days prior, involved the confiscation of a Venezuelan oil tanker off the coast.
President Maduro has called on the Venezuelan people, particularly the youth, to stand firm in their commitment to the nation. He asserted that the world is witnessing the rise of a multipolar international system, one free from colonialism. Maduro highlighted a global struggle between forces seeking independence, freedom, and cooperation, and others that he claims seek to dominate the world. He affirmed Venezuela’s solidarity with nations rejecting all forms of colonialism and servitude.
In a related development, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has urged the strengthening of security measures to protect the country’s vital energy resources. During a conference with workers in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors, Rodriguez emphasized the need to enhance security protocols at key facilities, safeguarding them against cyberattacks and sabotage attempts. She warned against any attempts at sabotage or digital warfare targeting critical infrastructure.
The recent months have seen heightened tensions surrounding Venezuela’s energy sector, which remains a crucial source of revenue for the nation.
