Algiers, December 14, 2025 – The President of the People’s National Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, affirmed today that the memory of the December 11th demonstrations solidifies the values of attachment to the land and strengthens the foundations of national unity in the face of adversity.
During a meeting of the Assembly’s bureau, Boughali emphasized that this historic anniversary serves as a stark reminder of the suffering endured by Algerians under colonialism, which subjected them to the most heinous forms of torture, humiliation, and degradation, without distinction between any segment of the nation’s population.
He added that Algeria, forged in the crucible of shared tragedies and historical events, has produced a resilient people who have demonstrated their ability to overcome hardships and stand united against injustice and aggression at every turn.
The Assembly President stressed that while the colonizer may change its tactics, its underlying objective remains the same: to undermine the cohesion of the Algerian people through transparent slogans that will never deceive the free sons and daughters of Algeria across the country.
Boughali further stated that the machinations orchestrated in plain sight will only reinforce the conviction of the Algerian people that the colonizer’s reliance on doubters is doomed to failure and will only strengthen their resolve to advance on the path of unity, continue building, and complete development, while adhering to national values, noble principles, and human dignity.
He pointed out that the desperate attempts at fragmentation and division under false and misleading pretenses prove once again that Algeria has disturbed elements who are displeased to see its people overcome difficulties and reclaim their civilizational and democratic role through its constitutional institutions and with a conscious popular will that exercises its responsibilities with maturity and interacts positively with transformations and changes within the framework of national unity derived from the sacrifices of the martyrs and the valiant Mujahideen who protected the country in the darkest of circumstances.
Furthermore, he affirmed that the glorious Algerian revolution was the decisive factor for all who doubted the unity of the nation and its identity, stressing that the Algerian people, who consciously and resolutely chose freedom, have proven to the world that their diversity is a source of richness and a factor of their national unity.
