Algeria’s Pension Fund Enhances Social Assistance Program

Algiers – The National Pension Fund (CNR) is set to host the fourth edition of its in-home social assistance week from December 14th to 20th, 2025. This year’s theme is “In-Home Social Assistance: A Public Service with Human Values,” underscoring the CNR’s commitment to strengthening the social character of public services and improving the quality of services provided to pensioners and their beneficiaries.

The event aims to highlight the mechanisms in place to address the concerns of pensioners, particularly those with disabilities or impairments, while emphasizing a humane approach to administrative procedures and providing accessible and effective support to ensure their needs are met promptly.

In 2025 alone, the in-home social assistance program facilitated over 29,000 visits to pensioners and their beneficiaries, offering support with administrative tasks and assisting them in obtaining essential medical equipment such as walking aids, wheelchairs, and hearing aids, eliminating the need for them to navigate bureaucratic processes independently.

As part of the ongoing modernization of public services, the CNR has launched a remote in-home social assistance service through its mobile application “Retiree” and the retiree portal. This allows pensioners to submit requests for medical equipment electronically and schedule in-person visits from social workers.

The CNR, through its network of local agencies, employs qualified social workers who are responsible for identifying cases requiring in-person visits. They utilize the national database of pensioners registered with social security services, adhering to strict criteria to ensure that services are directed to those most in need.

This initiative reflects the Algerian state’s dedication to upholding social principles and achieving social justice by providing effective social welfare mechanisms and empowering pensioners, especially vulnerable groups, to access their rights and benefits in a comfortable and efficient manner. The CNR is committed to ensuring a dignified and supported retirement for all Algerians.
