The National Gendarmerie in Berrahal, Annaba, has dismantled a criminal network specializing in cattle theft. The group was operating across the Annaba province and neighboring regions.
According to a statement from the Gendarmerie, the operation was launched following a complaint filed by a local farmer reporting the theft of his livestock. An in-depth investigation was immediately initiated. This included extensive search operations and surveillance, utilizing modern technical resources to pinpoint the identity and location of the network’s members.
After completing all legal procedures and extending the investigation beyond the province’s borders, authorities discovered the network’s involvement in several similar cattle theft cases in adjacent provinces.
The operation resulted in the recovery of 18 head of cattle. Authorities also seized the vehicle used in the crimes, approximately 60,000 Algerian Dinars believed to be proceeds from the thefts, a wire cutter, and mobile phones.
Three suspects have been apprehended and will be presented before the relevant judicial authorities once the investigation is complete. Four additional suspects have been identified and are currently at large. The investigation is ongoing.
