Algiers, December 14, 2025 – The Algerian Tennis Federation (FAT) has been recognized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) with the prestigious “Excellence in Tennis Development Award” for 2025. The award, specifically for Zone I in North Africa, acknowledges the FAT’s outstanding contributions to the growth and promotion of tennis within the region.
The ITF’s decision underscores the significant strides made by the Algerian federation in recent years. This includes initiatives aimed at increasing participation at the grassroots level, enhancing coaching standards, and improving infrastructure for players of all ages and abilities. The award also recognizes the FAT’s commitment to fostering a competitive environment that allows Algerian athletes to excel on both the national and international stage.
“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in tennis in Algeria,” said a representative from the FAT. “From the coaches and volunteers to the players and their families, this recognition belongs to the entire Algerian tennis community. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved and remain committed to further developing the sport across the country.”
The ITF’s recognition is expected to further motivate the FAT to continue its efforts in developing tennis in Algeria. Future plans include expanding access to the sport in underserved communities, investing in youth development programs, and hosting international tournaments to showcase Algerian talent and attract more investment into the sport. The FAT hopes that this award will inspire a new generation of Algerian tennis players to pursue their dreams and represent their country with pride.
The Algerian Tennis Federation will formally receive the award at a ceremony organized by the International Tennis Federation in the coming months.
