Pensioners to Receive New Salary Increases

Algiers, December 14, 2025 – Algerian pensioners are set to receive new increases to their monthly payments following a presidential directive issued during today’s Council of Ministers meeting.

President Tebboune emphasized the importance of providing adequate support to retired citizens and instructed relevant authorities to implement the salary adjustments promptly. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to improving the living standards of pensioners amidst ongoing economic challenges.

According to the announcement, pensioners earning a monthly income of 20,000 Algerian Dinars or less will receive a 10% increase. Those with a monthly income exceeding 20,000 Algerian Dinars will receive a 5% increase.

The Council of Ministers affirmed that these increases are in addition to the positive impact already felt from previous adjustments to the national minimum guaranteed wage. This latest measure aims to further alleviate financial pressures on retirees and ensure they can maintain a decent quality of life.

The move has been welcomed by pensioner advocacy groups, who have long called for greater financial assistance for retirees. The increases are expected to provide a significant boost to the purchasing power of pensioners and contribute to overall economic stability.

The government is expected to release further details regarding the implementation of these increases in the coming days. This announcement signals a continued focus on social welfare programs and the well-being of Algerian citizens.
