The National Construction Movement has strongly condemned what it describes as a misleading media campaign orchestrated by certain online publications and media outlets known for their hostility towards Algeria. The movement specifically pointed to an online platform, alleging its involvement in a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of Algeria and its sovereign institutions, particularly the People’s National Army.
In a statement signed by its president, Abdelkader Ben Guerina, the Movement asserted that these entities are disseminating false and malicious information, falsely accusing the Algerian army of employing mercenaries in the Sahel region to carry out clandestine operations. The Movement dismissed these allegations as baseless lies, characterizing them as part of a hostile propaganda campaign aimed at undermining the reputation of Algeria and its army, which is renowned for its balanced military doctrine and historical integrity.
The National Construction Movement emphasized that the new Algeria is now fortified against campaigns of distortion and misinformation. However, it simultaneously stressed the gravity of these attempts to target the image of the People’s National Army, especially in light of increasing international praise for Algeria’s approaches to strengthening peace and security at both regional and international levels, particularly in the African Sahel region.
The statement highlighted that the People’s National Army, rooted in the values and principles of the glorious liberation revolution, continues to perform its constitutional duties with utmost professionalism and discipline, upholding Algeria’s honorable image and placing the nation’s interests above all else. The Movement reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering position based on the principles of good neighborliness, respect for the sovereignty of states, and non-interference in their internal affairs. These principles are widely appreciated by the international community, particularly regarding Algeria’s role in addressing African crises, especially those in the Sahel region.
The statement further noted that the United Nations’ adoption of Algeria’s principles in combating terrorism has disrupted certain circles that thrive on chaos and instability. It affirmed that Algeria will remain a leading model in combating terrorism and drying up its sources, and a key supporter of international efforts to consolidate security and peace in Africa. The Movement also cautioned against the fragile security situation in the Sahel and Sahara region, and the fierce competition among regional and international actors seeking to impose their influence at the expense of the region’s stability, emphasizing that the Algerian doctrine will remain committed to peaceful solutions and the rejection of violence.
