Severe Thunderstorms, Hail Hit Several Algerian Regions

DZWatch Exclusive: Several regions across Algeria are experiencing severe thunderstorms and hail today, according to weather reports. Citizens are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions.

A special weather advisory indicates that significant thunderstorms, potentially producing up to 40 mm of rainfall and accompanied by hail, are expected to continue in the southern regions of Tamanrasset, In Salah, Illizi, and Ouargla until 11:00 PM tonight. Residents in these areas should be prepared for localized flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

Another advisory warns of similar weather patterns affecting the eastern regions of El Oued, Touggourt, El M’Ghair, and Ouled Djellal. These regions can anticipate thunderstorms with rainfall reaching 40 mm and hail, persisting until 3:00 AM tomorrow morning.

Furthermore, the provinces of Biskra, Batna, Khenchela, and Tebessa are bracing for intense thunderstorms, with rainfall exceeding 60 mm in some areas, coupled with hail. This weather system is expected to remain active from 9:00 AM today until 6:00 AM tomorrow.

A separate alert is in effect for M’Sila, Djelfa, Laghouat, Tiaret, Ghardaia, El Menia, El Bayadh, Naama, Djanet, and Bechar, where locally significant thunderstorms are predicted to continue until midnight.

Finally, the northern regions of Bouira, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Mila, Constantine, Oum El Bouaghi, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf are also under a thunderstorm watch. These areas can expect locally significant thunderstorms from midday today until dawn tomorrow.
