December 15, 2025 – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for severe thunderstorms, according to the National Meteorological Office. The office has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and potential hailstorms in numerous regions.
The meteorological service anticipates rainfall exceeding 40mm in the provinces of Tamanrasset, In Salah, Illizi, and Ouargla. These conditions are expected to persist until 11:00 PM tonight.
A separate weather alert indicates that the provinces of El Oued, Touggourt, El M’Ghair, and Ouled Djellal are also at risk of thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 40mm. This weather pattern is predicted to continue until 3:00 AM tomorrow morning.
Furthermore, the National Meteorological Office forecasts locally heavy thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 60mm, accompanied by hailstorms, in the provinces of Biskra, Batna, Khenchela, and Tebessa. These conditions are expected to begin at 9:00 AM this morning and last until 6:00 AM tomorrow, Tuesday.
Additional provinces, including M’Sila, Djelfa, Laghouat, Tiaret, Ghardaia, El Meniaa, El Bayadh, Naama, Djanet, and Bechar, are also forecast to experience thunderstorms until midnight tonight.
Finally, significant thunderstorm activity is anticipated from midday today until dawn tomorrow in the provinces of Bouira, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Mila, Constantine, Oum El Bouaghi, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
