President Mahmoud Abbas urges Arab leaders for an immediate summit to halt the ongoing brutal aggression on the Palestinian people. The call was made amidst escalating regional and international challenges.

In a critical development today, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has issued an urgent plea to leaders of Arab nations. He calls for an immediate Arab summit aimed at halting the relentless aggression against the Palestinian people and addressing the rising regional and international challenges. This news comes via a report from the Palestinian news agency and was shared by DZWatch, an Algerian news outlet.

During a meeting at his presidential headquarters in Ramallah, President Abbas insisted on rallying all efforts to empower the Palestinians to remain in their lands, put an end to the occupation, and establish their state with Jerusalem as its capital. The President further urged the global community to pressure Israel to cease what he described as a “torrent of Palestinian bloodshed.”

Abbas also used the occasion to call for unity and resilience among the Palestinian people in facing the devastating war perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. He emphasized that Gaza will forever remain an integral part of the Palestinian state alongside the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, serving as a thorn in the side of the aggressors.

Reflecting on the current circumstances, Abbas stated that the Palestinian issue is going through extremely difficult times. The residents of Gaza are subjected to a genocidal war, while atrocities are committed by Israeli forces in plain sight of the entire world.

Despite existing global efforts to halt this aggression, allow the entry of humanitarian aid, and prevent forced displacement, President Abbas remarked that a political solution based on international legitimacy is yet to be reached. Although the General Assembly issued a decision by a significant majority, Israeli forces have responded with an unprecedented escalation of bombardment, destruction, and killing.

Abbas added that the number of Palestinian casualties has exceeded 7,500, the majority of whom are children and women. The number of injured individuals surpasses 20,000, not accounting for those still buried under the rubble. “To everyone listening, how can one remain silent when over 3,000 Palestinian children have been killed? How can one stay quiet about the bombing of hospitals? And how can anyone turn a blind eye to this monstrous destruction and collective punishment of civilians?” he questioned.

In closing, the call by President Mahmoud Abbas for an urgent Arab summit presents a vital juncture in the ongoing Palestinian struggle. It underscores the necessity for collective Arab and international efforts to resolve the issue and achieve peace and justice for the Palestinian people.
