Pakistani Army Chief to Meet Trump Amid Gaza Stabilization Force Talks

Washington, D.C. – Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, is reportedly scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., in the coming weeks, according to sources familiar with the matter. The meeting is expected to focus on the potential formation of an international stabilization force for the Gaza Strip.

This would be the third meeting between General Munir and President Trump in the last six months, signaling a deepening dialogue between the two nations on regional security matters.

President Trump’s proposed 20-point Gaza ceasefire plan reportedly calls for the establishment of an international force to oversee a transitional period of reconstruction and economic recovery in the war-torn Palestinian territory. The composition and mandate of such a force have been subjects of ongoing discussion.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated in November that Islamabad would consider contributing troops to a peacekeeping operation, clarifying that “disarming Hamas is not our job.” This statement highlights the nuanced considerations involved in Pakistan’s potential participation.

President Trump indicated on Tuesday that 59 countries have expressed willingness to participate in the Gaza stabilization force. He emphasized that the international stabilization force in Gaza is already in operation, with more countries expected to join.

The first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement commenced on October 10th. However, recent reports suggest that the Israeli government is hesitant to proceed to the second phase of the agreement, despite pressure from the U.S. administration.
