Algiers, December 17, 2025 – Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib presided over a government meeting today, focusing on key initiatives related to urban development and the nation’s digital transformation strategy.
At the beginning of the session, the government examined a draft executive decree outlining the procedures for transferring basic infrastructure and equipment completed as part of the new city project to the relevant administrations and institutions. The aim of this measure is to establish a practical method for improving the performance and optimizing the value of public facilities located within the boundaries of new cities. This will ensure their full functional role, ultimately enhancing the services provided to citizens in these urban centers.
Furthermore, the government continued its review of projects registered under the President’s directives concerning the implementation of digital transformation. In this context, the government reviewed four presentations covering:
- The progress of digitalization across various ministerial sectors.
- The ongoing completion of the second national data center, originally commissioned on September 26th.
- The national digital services portal (Dzairdigital services), designed as a gateway to modern, user-friendly, and efficient administration. This portal will provide unified and secure online and mobile access to public services meeting international standards.
- The establishment of two strategic, next-generation facilities forming Algeria’s first national cloud computing infrastructure. This infrastructure is intended to secure and modernize public and economic services by hosting sovereign data and accelerating the pace of digital transformation.
The meeting underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing Algeria through strategic investments in infrastructure and digital technologies.
