Algiers, December 17, 2025 – The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security announced today that legal action will be taken against individuals found to have fraudulently obtained unemployment benefits. This action comes as a result of investigations into the misuse of travel grants.
According to a statement released by the ministry, investigations into the irregular distribution of travel grants have revealed the involvement of several unemployment benefit recipients. These individuals allegedly colluded with an organized network to divert the travel grants unlawfully and to individuals not entitled to them.
The National Employment Agency, under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour, has declared its intention to prosecute all unemployment benefit recipients implicated in this criminal network. This decisive action aims to protect public funds and ensure the integrity of the unemployment benefit system.
“The Agency will pursue legal action against anyone receiving unemployment benefits found to be involved in this criminal network, in order to protect public funds,” the statement emphasized. The ministry views this matter with utmost seriousness and is committed to holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
Further details regarding the scope of the fraud and the number of individuals involved are expected to be released as the investigation progresses. The Ministry of Labour has assured the public that it is taking all necessary measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
This announcement serves as a strong deterrent to anyone contemplating fraudulent activities related to unemployment benefits or other forms of government assistance. The authorities are determined to uphold the law and safeguard the financial resources intended for legitimate beneficiaries.
