Algiers Metro: Partial Service Interruption Announced

Algiers, December 17, 2025 – Commuters who use the Algiers Metro should be aware of a partial service interruption scheduled for two upcoming weekends. DZWatch has learned that SEMA, the operating company for the Algiers Metro, has announced planned maintenance work on the track between El-Maaqdmine and Hai El Badr stations.

The maintenance is scheduled to take place during the nights of Friday, December 19th and Friday, December 26th, after normal operating hours. According to a statement released by SEMA, the work will continue until 7:00 AM each morning.

While this section of the line is closed for maintenance, metro service will continue uninterrupted on the following sections: Place des Martyrs – El-Maaqdmine, Hai El Badr – Ain Naadja, and Hai El Badr – Harrach Centre. This ensures that the majority of the metro network remains operational during the maintenance period.

To mitigate the inconvenience caused by the service disruption, SEMA has arranged for ETUSA buses to transport passengers between El-Maaqdmine and Hai El Badr stations. The first replacement bus is scheduled to depart at 5:00 AM. This will allow commuters to continue their journeys with minimal disruption.

SEMA has also provided a contact number (+213 770 961 672) for passengers seeking further information or assistance regarding the service changes. Passengers are encouraged to call this number with any questions or concerns they may have.

DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. We advise passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and allow for extra travel time during these periods.
