Algerian Tourists Surge 242% in Tunisia’s Yasmine Hammamet

Yasmine Hammamet, Tunisia – The popular tourist destination of Yasmine Hammamet is experiencing a significant resurgence in Algerian tourism, with initial figures for the winter season showing a dramatic increase in visitors.

According to local tourism officials, the number of Algerian tourists visiting Yasmine Hammamet between December 1st and December 10th, 2025, has risen by an impressive 242% compared to the same period last year. This surge indicates a strong rebound in the Algerian market’s contribution to Tunisian tourism.

The increase in tourist arrivals has also translated into a substantial rise in overnight stays. During the same period, the total number of nights spent by Algerian tourists reached 27,000, marking an extraordinary 418% increase compared to the previous year. This suggests that Algerian visitors are not only coming in greater numbers but are also extending the duration of their stays.

Local reports indicate a growing trend of Algerians traveling to Tunisia in private vehicles, alongside the occasional arrival of tourist buses. This comes in light of recent regulations imposed by Algerian authorities requiring tourist buses traveling to Tunisia to obtain international transportation permits. Concerns have been raised about the potential impact of this new regulation on the flow of tourists in the coming months.

Looking ahead, tourism officials anticipate near-maximum occupancy rates in Yasmine Hammamet hotels during the New Year’s holiday period, with occupancy levels expected to range between 95% and 100%. This high demand is primarily driven by domestic tourism, followed by the Algerian and European markets.

Overall, the year 2025 has been positive for Yasmine Hammamet’s tourism sector. The total number of overnight stays from January 1st to December 10th, 2025, reached approximately 3.2 million nights, a figure described by officials as “excellent” in comparison to previous years.
