Algerian Customs officials have seized over 21.5 kg of processed cannabis and 7,440 psychotropic tablets in two separate operations in Batna and Laghouat provinces. The seizures were announced today by the General Directorate of Customs, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and organized crime.
In Batna, a mobile customs unit, in coordination with the People’s National Army, intercepted a truck and trailer, seizing more than 21.5 kg of processed cannabis. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the seizure, which occurred within the jurisdiction of the Constantine Regional Directorate of Customs.
Meanwhile, in Laghouat, customs officials, working with the Research and Intervention Brigade of the Laghouat Police, seized 7,440 Pregabalin 300mg tablets. The pills were concealed inside a tourist vehicle, and those involved have been apprehended. The operation fell under the jurisdiction of the Laghouat Regional Directorate of Customs.
These operations are part of the national strategy to combat smuggling and protect public safety and health. The General Directorate of Customs reiterated its commitment to fighting all forms of trafficking and organized crime. Further investigations are underway to determine the origin and destination of the seized narcotics.
